What is an adjustable book cover?
An adjustable book cover is designed to be used on the book you are currently reading. It has a fixed height and an adjustable width, allowing it to fit books of the same height across a wide range of page counts. As you finish one book and start another, the cover can be adjusted and reused.
Do I need more than one size adjustable cover?
Many readers choose to collect adjustable covers in the most common trade book heights. Because adjustable covers are fixed in height and flexible in width, owning a few core sizes allows you to move easily between most books you read.
The most common trade heights are 9", 8.5", 8.25", and 8". Having an adjustable cover in each of these sizes means you’re prepared for nearly any paperback or hardcover you pick up, while still enjoying the flexibility of adjustable width.
This approach allows readers to reuse their covers again and again, building a small collection that fits their personal reading habits.
What is a fitted book cover?
A fitted book cover is made to match one specific book’s dimensions. It is tailored to a single book and is not adjustable or intended to be reused on other books. Fitted covers are ideal for keepsakes or books you plan to keep permanently covered.
Will your covers fit hardcovers and paperbacks?
Yes. Our covers can be used with both hardcover and paperback books, as long as the height matches the selected size. Adjustable covers accommodate varying thicknesses, while fitted covers are made to exact measurements.
How do I choose the correct size?
For adjustable covers, measure the height (spine) of your book and select the matching dust jacket size.
For fitted covers, we require the book’s height, width, and spine thickness, measured to the closest 1/8".
How many pages will an adjustable cover fit?
Adjustable covers typically accommodate books ranging from approximately 200 to 900+ pages, depending on paper thickness and binding style.
Are the covers heavy?
Our covers are designed to feel substantial without being cumbersome. They add a protective structure and tactile weight while remaining comfortable for everyday reading.
How should I care for my cover?
Wood can be lightly oiled with food-safe cutting board oil as needed. Keep oil away from the leather.
Leather should be conditioned periodically with our recommended leather balm.
When not in use, store your cover in the included velvet bag.
Will the wood or leather look exactly like the photos?
Each cover is made using natural materials. Variations in wood grain, leather texture, and tone are normal and part of what makes every piece unique.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the custom nature of our products, we do not accept returns or exchanges. If you experience an issue with your order, please contact us and we’ll work with you to find a thoughtful solution.
Where are the covers made?
All of our covers are handcrafted by our small family studio in Prescott, Arizona, using leather and hardwoods sourced from family-owned U.S. suppliers.
